(FREDERICTON, NB) Dan Walker(Fredericton, NB) scored twice to lead the UNB Varsity Reds in a 4-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties, Sunday at UNB's BMO Centre.

The goals were the fifth and sixth goals of the season for Walker.

"We needed the six points this weekend," said Walker. "We needed to build off the good training that we've had. Scoring goals and bringing the confidence from training has really helped us."

Marcus Lees(Barrie, ON) and Robbie Park(Glasgow, SCO) also scored for the Varsity Reds.

With the win, UNB is now 4-3-2, good for sixth place in the Atlantic University Sport conference.

Ben Gorringe(Truro, NS) was named the Subway Player of the Game.

"4-0 doesn't do us justice," he said. "We had loads of shots. It could've been 8 or 9 nothing."

"I love seeing the ball go into the back of the net and that's what we need to see going forward," said Gorringe.

The Mounties are now 0-9-0, and have conceded 47 goals to opponents this season.

"I think we played a lot better game than 4-0," said fifth year Mounties forward Anthony Maddalena(Halifax, NS). "The second half, we battled hard, but let them have two goals in the last 15 minutes. We played better than that."

Mount Allison travels to St FX on Saturday.

The Varsity Reds, who've now won four of their last five, play host to Moncton on Friday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:15pm.
