Van Aarle scores game winning goal in 3-1 win over UdeM
The Varsity Reds men's soccer team travelled to Moncton today (Friday) to take on the UdeM Aigles Bleus winning their one and only game of the weekend 3-1.
UNB was first to score with a goal from senior Yousuf Mohammad at 16:36. Less than 15 minutes later UdeM tied it up as Amadou Barni Fall put one by UNB goaltender Aaron McMurray at 30:39.
In the second half midfielder Kenneth Van Aarle scored the game winning goal initiated from a corner kick by fullback Patrick Cormier at 54:20. This was freshman Van Aarle's first goal in AUS play.
UNB's third goal of the game also came from a first year player – Brazilian Diego Padhilla put one past UdeM's Samuel Charron at the 79th minute to make it 3-1.
V-Reds are now 4-1-2 half way through the season and sit atop the standings board with 14 points.
The Varsity Reds will travel to Cape Breton and Mount Allison for a pair of games next weekend – October 5 and 6 – both games will be webcast live on www.austv.ca
