Men’s Soccer Season Preview
The upcoming 2013-14 season is looking to be an exciting one for the Varsity Reds men's soccer team. It will all come to a climax on November 7th as UNB will step onto the BMO Centre field as host of the CIS National Championships. The Varsity Reds know what to expect as they finished last season at the AUS and CIS Championships and faced the CIS gold medalists (UBC) and silver medalists (CBU).
The 2012-13 Varsity Reds found their form three weeks into the season and went on to win their final eight games by way of clean sheets. Their 9-3-1 record was good enough to capture the AUS league title. Sixteen players are returning from this team, including CIS and AUS All-Star, Ben Law; AUS All-Star, Aaron MacMurray; UNB Offensive Player of the Year, Yousuf Mohammad; and UNB Rookie of the Year, Oliver Jones. Other veteran players returning for their fifth season include: Yassin Shehab, Shea Nordheim, Phil Demers, Jason Rouse, Amir Razak, and Will Allen.
