UNB Menā??s soccer team lose 2-0 to UdeM
September 23, 2012
The Men’s soccer team finished the game with a 2-0 loss after a hard-fought game against the Université de Moncton.
With a goal scored in each half against them, they were able to keep the score low at only two points, and had strong attempts at UdeM’s goaltender.
The loss still fresh, Head Coach Miles Pinsent said he is looking forward to going over the game footage to see what the team can improve upon for their away games this coming weekend.
“I always find that watching the game tapes a day removed, the emotions are unattached and that’s what gives me a little bit of a different perspective,” said Pinsent.
Although the game ended in UdeM’s favour, Coach Pinsent said they maintained composure throughout the game.
“At times I thought we tried to play with some composure and push the ball around. It didn’t ultimately lead to the chances going forward that we wanted but I think that we did look, at times, comfortable with the ball and we like to try and create some space and play through.”
The recipient of Player of the game for UNB, and who Pinsent said is consistently a leading player on the team, was Benjamin Law.
“Consistently, game in and game out, Ben [Law] has been our best player, so I think we’ve used him in a couple different roles and he’s doing his part for sure,” said Pinsent.
Ben Law, captain of the UNB Men’s team, said he tells his players to keep their heads up and continue to play a strong game until the end.
“I tell them to relax on the ball, keep calm, and work things out,” said Law.
“If something goes wrong the first time pick up your head, make the second time worth while.”
