Soccer announces Kalen and Robbie Park
The University of New Brunswick Men's Soccer Program is pleased to announce the addition of Kalen Park and Robbie Park for the 2013 soccer season.
Their surnames may be the same but the Parks are from worlds apart.
Canadian Kalen Park is an 18 year-old from Calgary, Alberta, and will come to UNB from training in Germany where he has been a guest player with the Under 23 Team of Energie Cottbus.
Coach Pinsent believes that the fullback has the potential to play a major role for the Varsity Reds both in the short term and in the long term.
"Kalen comes to us with a very strong soccer background. He is a big, strong athlete who has benefitted from his previous exposure to top-level coaches," commented Pinsent.
Enrolled in the UNB Business Program Kalen said, "The reason I decided to go to UNB is for the balance between a great soccer program and a good school. I wanted to join a strong soccer program that had a dynamic coach where the team works hard."
From Glasgow, Scotland, Robbie Park already has two national championships under his belt while playing for St. Ambrose School. He also was the top scorer at the UK Championship Tournament.
"Robbie is a dynamic striker whose pace and work rate make him difficult to defend," said Pinsent. "He gets himself in dangerous positions and knows how to use his supporting players."
Robbie, who will be entering the Bachelor of Kinesiology program said, "I chose UNB due to the location and fantastic opportunities it provides me both as a student and on the soccer pitch."
Currently playing for Queens Park Football Club the 18 year old continued, "The Varsity Reds are an ambitious team I really look forward to becoming a part of and I believe I can help the team towards challenging for the national championship."
