Steve Harris named Technical Coordinator
FREDERICTON, N.B. – John Richard, athletic director at the University of New Brunswick, host University of the 2013 CIS Men's Soccer Championship, is pleased to announce that Mr. Steve Harris will take a lead role as volunteer Technical Coordinator on the UNB Organizing Committee of the 2013 event.
This year's championship will take place at the BMO Centre, UNB Fredericton Campus, from November 8-10, 2013.
"Steve was our immediate choice for this position which requires technical expertise in the sport of soccer," said John Richard, director of athletics at UNB. "Steve brings a wealth of knowledge to this position.
As Technical Coordinator, Harris will hold a key role on the organizing committee and will be the liaison on site with the CIS participating coaches as well with all aspects in the "field of play" leading up to and throughout the championship.
Harris played soccer for UNB under Coach Gary Brown for two years; 1985 and 1986. He graduated from UNB with a Master of Physical Education and is currently the Acting Director of Sport and Recreation Branch, Department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities. He is a level 1 soccer referee and holds a Provincial B coaching license.
"It is a great opportunity to showcase the UNB men's soccer program to the New Brunswick community," said Harris. "These events can inspire young players develop their potential to one day play on this same stage, or at least have fun trying"
