Title: Goalie Coach, Men's Hockey

In 2022-2023, Kyle is in his seventh season as goaltending coach for UNB men’s hockey. He also held the role of video coach and hockey operations with the men’s team for three seasons (2019-2022) prior to becoming associate coach of UNB women’s hockey.

During his time coaching with the men’s team at UNB, the REDS have won two national championships (2019 & 2017), six Atlantic University Sports regular season titles, and five AUS Championships.

Every goaltender to graduate from UNB Men’s Hockey  since 2017 has signed an American Hockey League contract

The Rothesay, NB native was named to the 2023 Team Canada coaching staff for the World University Games in Lake Placid, New York. MacDonald previously filled that position in 2021.

He’s gained valuable experience working with Hockey Canada’s women’s and men’s team programs and continues to serve as a mentor in Hockey New Brunswick’s Elite Development program.

He currently works as a private goaltending coach for Jake Allen, of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, and serves as the Atlantic Canada scout for the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL.

Previously, Kyle worked with the Saint John Vito’s U18 AAA (2012-2016). They finished as silver medallists at the 2016 Telus Cup Canadian Championship. He also served as interim Head Coach of the former St. Stephen Jr. A Aces, of the Maritime Hockey League.
