(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE) The UNB REDS continue to dominate Atlantic University Sport men's hockey, scoring a 7-1 win over the UPEI Panthers, in Charlottetown, on Saturday night.

With the REDS' win, head coach Gardiner MacDougall earned his 600th career win in regular season and playoff action (conference playoff and national championship tournament games) and snapped the Panthers' three-game win streak.

UPEI had a strong start, keeping the shot count close and registering a short-handed goal by first-year forward Keiran Gallant (Covehead, PE) just past the five minute mark of the first period.

UNB quickly fired back with three goals in 11 minutes and maintained control for the rest of the game.

REDS Justin Nolet (Mississauga, ON), Jason Willms (Kitchener, ON), and Austin Keating (Guelph, ON) potted the goals in the opening frame.

"There were key moments," said Panthers' head coach Forbes MacPherson. "Early powerplay, we scored. When the score was 3-1, we had a short-handed breakaway, hit the crossbar. We liked what we were doing in a lot of areas."

"But we learned we need to find a whole other level," he added. "We'll take the day off, regroup and get back to work on Monday."

A lack of discipline on UPEI's side early in the second period led to two UNB powerplay goals in a 29 second span Benjamin Corbeil (Granby, QC) and Willms.

Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) added a goal at 8:34 of the second period, finishing the game with three points.

Isaac Nurse (Hamilton, ON) scored the final goal for UNB at 11:57 of the third period.

The final shots on goal were 38-16 in favour of UNB.

Griffen Outhouse (Williams Lake, BC) denied 15 of 16 shots in net for UNB.

UPEI went 0-for-6 on the powerplay, while UNB went 4-for-4.

Leading the AUS, the REDS are now 24-0-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL), while the Panthers are 10-11-1-2 and tied for fourth place.

The REDS return to home ice on Friday, taking on the Saint Mary's Huskies. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.

The Panthers return to action next weekend, welcoming the STFX X-Men on Friday.
