(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS clinched first place in the Atlantic University Sport standings, the REDS 15thconsecutive regular season championship, and a first round playoff bye with a 6-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers, in Halifax, on Saturday.

Jason Willms (Kitchener, ON) scored twice to lead the REDS.

The REDS started the game on the offensive, peppering Dal goalie Connor Hicks (Kanata, ON) from the opening face-off.

Hicks and the Tigers defence did their best to turn away UNB's scoring chances, but midway through the period the REDs finally broke through.

Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) scored on his own rebound and UNB took a 1-0 lead to the first intermission.

The REDS extended their lead early in the second when Cody Morgan (Gilford, ON) and Willms scored back-to-back goals.

UNB continued to pressure the Tigers throughout the period and managed to get nearly twice as many shots on goal.

UNB kept rolling to start the third as Willms scored his second.

Dal would not give up though, and shortly after they managed to capitalize on a power-play, with Matt Green (Hammonds Plains, NS) breaking up Griffen Outhouse's (Williams Lake, BC) shutout bid in the UNB net.

Emmett Sproule (Collingwood, ON) and Isaac Nurse (Hamilton, ON) chipped in a couple more for the REDS while Liam Peyton (Halifax, NS) added another for the Tigers as UNB skated away with the win.

Willms was named Subway Player of the Game

.

The REDS are now 21-3-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) on the season while Dalhousie drops to 6-18-1-1.
