(FREDERICTON, NB) The defending U SPORTS and Atlantic University Sport champion UNB Reds are adding forward Dylan Seitz for the second half of the 2019-20 AUS season.

Seitz, a native of Eden, New York, joins the Reds following two-plus seasons with the Moncton Wildcats, of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and one season with the Kitchener Rangers, of the Ontario Hockey League.

In 127 regular season games with the Wildcats, Seitz scored 33 goals and 31 assists.

In his lone season with the Rangers, he played in 60 games, scoring eight goals and adding 10 assists.

“We’re pleased to add Dylan to our group. He’ll compliment the key team success ingredients of hard work, grit and being hard to play against,” said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. “He had great seasons with the Wildcats and was a member of the United States’ U18 team. He’s really improved his fitness level and skill components during the past two months, while practicing with our team.”

Seitz helped the US earn a silver medal at the 2016 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, in the Czech Republic, and attended the New Jersey Devils’ rookie camp in 2018.

“It was a no-brainer to choose UNB,” said Seitz. “With the winning pedigree here, and the list of former players that have moved on to professional hockey after their time here, it was an easy decision to make.”

After the conclusion of his major junior career, Seitz is looking forward to making an impact and helping the surging Reds.

“I’ll bring grit, I’ll bring leadership,” he said. “My main goal is to grow and mature during my time at UNB, on and off the ice.”

Seitz is studying business while attending UNB.
