(HALIFAX, NS) Tyler Boland (St. John's, NL) scored twice as the UNB Reds blanked the Dalhousie Tigers 4-0 on Friday, in Halifax.

After a tight first two periods, the Reds finally found their offense in the third and came away with the win.

Connor Hicks (Kanata, ON) was busy early, as the Reds were dominant through the first half of opening frame. Hicks made an incredible 21 saves in the opening 15 minutes.

With the first period about to end, it looked as though the Tigers had weathered the storm, but with just three seconds to go, the puck came through a crowd out to the point for Matt Murphy (Woodstock, NB). His quick shot got over the shoulder of Hicks to make it 1-0 going into the second period.

After a mostly quiet second period, it remained a 1-0 lead for the Reds heading into the third.

In the third, moments after UNB had killed off a penalty, Boland was sprung down the right side. He made a strong move from backhand to forehand just as he got hit from behind and finished through the contact to make it 2-0.

The Reds struck again late in the period, as Alexandre Goulet (Disraeli, QC) was able to knock the wind out of the Tigers as he tapped home an easy rebound to make it 3-0 with four minutes to go.

The final nail was driven home by Boland, on his second of evening, off a hard one-timer on a great pass from Christopher Clapperton (Cap d'Espoir, QC).

Despite giving up the four goals, Hicks was spectacular for the Tigers, stopping 60 shots in the loss.

Rylan Parenteau (Saskatoon, SK) stopped 21 shots in the UNB net for the shut-out.

Boland was named the Subway Player of the Game.

The Reds continue their weekend road swing in Antigonish on Saturday. They face the X-Men in a 7:00pm start.

The Tigers host the UPEI Panthers.
