(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB Reds remain unbeaten in regulation after a 3-1 win over the Dalhousie Tigers, in Halifax, on Friday.

Dal started strong with a steal from the opening faceoff by Jonathan Cyr (Ottawa, ON) and a shot on net. The shot was stopped by the UNB Reds goaltender Alex Dubeau (Mascouche, QC).

After much back and forth, Dalhousie had its first big chance as the defence found Kelly Bent (Halifax, NS) at centre ice. Bent carried the puck into the Reds zone, dodged through one defender and shot, but was stopped by Dubeau.

Halfway through the period, the Reds found their way past Tigers netminder Connor Hicks (Kanata, ON), on a goal by Mark Simpson (Rothesay, NB).

The Reds led 1-0 after 20 minutes.

After some intense zone-to-zone play in the first half of the second period, Evan Scott (Montreal, QC) put the Tigers on the board, tying the score 1-1.

The Reds came back with a number of chances, but Hicks stood his ground, keeping UNB's shooters at bay, leaving the game tied at 1-1 through two periods.

Early in the third period, Matthew Boucher (Los Angeles, CA) fought hard at the net during a scramble, found the puck and shovelled it into the Dal net.

Late in the third, the Tigers struggled to hold possession in the Reds zone as they worked with an empty net and an extra attacker.

Stephen Anderson (Morell, PE) sent the puck into the empty net, giving UNB the 3-1 win.

Chris Clapperton (Cap d'Espoir, QC) picked up an assist on Anderson's goal, the 100th regular season point of his Atlantic University Sport career.

Hicks was named the Subway Player of the Game, making 62 saves in the Tigers net.

Dubeau stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced as UNB improved to 18-0-3.

The Reds head to Antigonish on Saturday to take on the St FX X-Men, while Dalhousie will play host to the UPEI Panthers. Both games are at 7:00pm.
