UNB adds 5th year veteran experience with RD Chisholm
The Varsity Reds are pleased to announce another great addition.
The UNB Varsity Reds are pleased to announce the addition of veteran RD Chisholm to their team after four years with the St.FX X-Men. Chisholm will begin graduate work in the Faculty of Kinesiology.
Chisholm had a three-year career in the Maritime Junior Hockey League which saw him play for both the Halifax Wolverines and the Bridgewater Lumberjacks. In 2009-2010, Chisholm had his best season, putting up 38 points in 50 games including 11 goals. He also added four points in eight playoff games that spring. During this season, Chisholm played six games for the QJMHL's Halifax Mooseheads.
Chisholm attended St.FX in his hometown of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he made the team as a training camp walk-on and carved out a successful career including an appearance in the AUS finals and CIS Nationals in 2011. He is an excellent skater and can play both defense and forward.
"RD is a solid veteran presence who adds leadership and depth to our lineup," said UNB head coach Gardiner MacDougall. "He's come to UNB with a fantastic attitude, is in great physical condition and can help us in a lot of situations especially with his skating."
According to associate coach Rob Hennigar "RD is a great guy to have on any hockey club. He comes to the rink every day ready to work and is always willing to learn. He'll help us both on and off the ice."
The Varsity Reds also announced the return of both Colin Suellentrop (D) and Chris Caissy (F) to their line-up after attending NHL camps. Suellentrop, a fourth-round NHL pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, was at both the Arizona Coyotes rookie and main camps while Caissy, the former Moncton Wildcat, played for the St. Louis Blues rookies in the annual Traverse City NHL tournament.
The Varsity Reds play this Friday at home against Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus and open up their AUS calendar with a visit to UPEI on October 11.
Their home opener is the following Friday, October 17, when the Aitken Centre will play host to a battle with Dalhousie.
