FREDERICTON, NB, July 5, 2012 - A former University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds men’s hockey player, Kevin Henderson, has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Nashville Predators. Henderson, 25, of Toronto signed an agreement worth $550,000 at the NHL level and $50,000 at the AHL level.
The free agent forward signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Nashville’s ECHL affiliate, on February 1, but was shipped to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, after two games. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder scored four goals and 11 points in 30 regular season contests with Milwaukee, the affiliate squad of the San Jose Sharks, and dressed for the Admirals’ brief 2012 Calder Cup run.
Henderson helped the Varsity Reds capture the 2009 Canadian Interuniversity Sport title and was named a 2008-09 All-Canadian honourable mention.
