COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed center Darryl Boyce off the waiver wire on Saturday. Boyce, 27, was waived by Toronto on Friday. In 17 games with the Maple Leafs this season, he had one goal and one assist.
In three NHL seasons, all with Toronto, Boyce has six goals and 15 points in 64 contests, including five goals and eight assists in 46 games with the Leafs in 2010-11. Boyce played two seasons with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds before turning pro, leading the V-Reds to the 2007 Canadian Interuniversity Sport national men's hockey championship. He signed a two-year entry level contract with the Leafs organization.
He's expected to join the Blue Jackets in time for Tuesday's game. He'll wear number 43 with the NHL club.
