REDS Split Friday Games
(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS split Friday's games at the 2025 Atlantic University Sport men's curling championship at the Mayflower Curling Club, in Halifax.
In the day's opening game, UNB beat the UPEI Panthers 5-2.
The Jamie Stewart rink scored two in the sixth end to break a 2-2 tie and then stole a single in the seventh end for the victory.
In the afternoon draw, the REDS fell 6-3 to Memorial.
The match was tied 3-3 through four ends before the Sea-Hawks scored singles in the fifth, sixth, and seventh ends.
With the loss, the REDS fell into a four-way tie for top spot in the six-team field.
UNB, Memorial, Dalhousie and UPEI are all 2-and-1.
"We want to make it to Sunday," said REDS' head coach Gary Wilson. "2-and-1 has us in contention at this point."
"With two more wins, I believe we'll qualify for Sunday," added Wilson. "That's the goal for Saturday. We want to control our fate."
The REDS will wrap up round robin play on Saturday with games against STFX, at 9:00am, and the Dal Tigers at 2:00pm.
The top three teams will advance to Sunday's playoffs with the first place team earning a spot in the final. The second and third place teams would play a Saturday morning semi-final.
