REDS Power Past X-Men
(MONTAGUE, PE) In their lone Friday game at the Atlantic University Sport Men's Curling Championship, in Montague, Prince Edward Island, the UNB REDS powered past STFX 7-1.
UNB's Jamie Stewart rink scored four times in the second end and never looked back.
The REDS added two more in the seventh end before the two teams shook hands.
"We got a solid effort from everyone tonight," said REDS' head coach Lindsey MacKnight. "We took control in the first end and held it to the last end."
With the win, UNB is now 2-and-1 with one more round robin game to play.
The REDS' alternate, Luke Wilson, saw his first action.
"It felt great being on the ice with the boys," he said. "It was a good win and we're hoping to use it as a stepping-stone to the final."
UNB faces the host UPEI Panthers in Saturday's morning draw. That game starts at 9:00am.
