REDS Add Forward Landell In Transfer
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s basketball team has rounded out their recruiting class ahead of the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport season with the addition of forward Conner Landell.
The 6’9” Landell, from Niagara Falls, ON, will be joining the REDS after playing last season at Fort Hays State University, an NCAA Division II program, in Hays, Kansas.
“Conner is a great addition to our front court for this upcoming season,” said UNB head coach Joe Salerno. “He adds great size and athleticism, as well as another defensive presence in the paint.”
Prior to Fort Hays State, Landell spent two seasons playing in the National Junior College Athletic Association with Lamar Community College and Clarendon Community College.
“Connor will add a true back-to-the-basket offensive threat for us,” said Salerno. “Something we have lacked a bit in years past.”
Landell is excited about joining the REDS and is looking forward to competing for a title right away.
“The facilities are incredible,” said Landell. “I like the make-up of this team and think we have the pieces to compete for a title. I believe I will be able to contribute by bringing great defense and rebounding.”
Landall played his high school basketball at Bill Crothers High School, in Unionville, ON, where he was teammates with current REDS guard Marcus Barnes, leading the team in rebounds and helping them to an Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association final.
Landell says his short-term goal is to help win an AUS championship for the REDS. Longer-term, he hopes that his time spent at UNB will help him prepare to play at the professional level.
The 20-year-old will study Arts while attending UNB.
