(HALIFAX, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers used a program record-breaking three point night to beat the UNB REDS 76-64, on Friday.

Nginyu Ngala (Montreal, QC) hit nine three point shots to lead the Tigers, establishing a new program record for three-point shots made in a single game. Ngala led all scorers with 32 points.

The Tigers dominated the first quarter, with good passing and strict defense.

The REDS countered, highlighted by Vegas Evans (Brampton, ON) moving to open space and hitting a three-pointer, but it was not enough as the Tigers finished the first quarter up 26-18.

The REDS rallied in the second, thanks in no small part to forward Brett Speedy (Fredericton, NB), who made a cross court pass to guard Eden Otshudi (Hamilton, ON) who scored a three on the play.

The teams went to the half tied 36-36.

The third quarter began with intensity.

The Tigers were able to find momentum and regain the lead.

A key Marcus Barnes (Kitchener, ON) basket helped keep UNB in the game, but near the end of the quarter, Alex Ruiz (Valencia, Spain) rushed past the REDS defence for a lay-up under pressure, giving the Tigers a 60-51 advantage headed to the fourth quarter.

Both teams played more defensively, limiting chances and passing tight.

The Tigers were able to shut down the REDS, winning the game 76-64.

Ngala added 10 rebounds to his 32-point night and was named was the Subway Player of the Game.

The REDS top scorer was Norm Burry (Grafton, NB), with 15 points and five rebounds.

The Tigers play the REDS again Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
