Varsity Reds Add Two Ahead Of Second Half
Wilks and Ogot join V-Reds
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds have added center Cooper Wilks(Sydney, AUS) and forward Ogot Ogot(Edmonton, AB) ahead of the second half of the Atlantic University Sport season.
Both players made their debuts with the team at the recent exhibition games at Bishop’s University.
Wilks has just finished a season in Australia, where he played in Basketball New South Wales’ Waratah League.
The 6’8” centre led the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in scoring as the team compiled an 11-9 record.
“Cooper brings some help up front, where presently, we have some guys playing out of position at center,” said Varsity Reds head coach Brent Baker.
Ogot is a 6’4” forward who played at Bull City Prep Academy, in Durham, North Carolina, last season.
“Ogot has a very good perimeter game,” said Baker. “He’s got good range on his jump shot and he can drive and finish at the rim.”
Wilks and Ogot will be in the Varsity Reds line-up when they host the Acadia Axemen, on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm, at UNB’s Richard J. Currie Center.
