Masters Drops 37 In UNB's 10th Win

(SYDNEY, NS) The game was close, for a while.

The UNB Varsity Reds handed the Cape Breton University Capers their second loss in less than 24 hours… 114-93.

Javon Masters(Kitchener, ON) went off for 37 points, while Martin Campbell(Upper Marlboro, MD) countered for CBU with 37 points of his own.

The Atlantic University Sport-leading Varsity Reds did most of their damage in the game's first two quarters, outscoring the Capers 61-40.

CBU was able to bring the game to as close as 12 points early in the fourth quarter, but UNB pulled away at the end, their tenth win of the season.

Including Masters, named the Subway Player of the Game for the second consecutive night, four Varsity Reds scored in double figures.

Hess Mayele(Laval, QC) had 20 points, while newcomers Cooper Wilks(Sydney, AUS) had 10 and Ogot Ogot(Edmonton, AB) scored 16.

While UNB improves to 10-1, the Capers record falls to 2-9.

CBU's next action is next Saturday, when they host St FX.

The Varsity Reds take to the road again next weekend, visiting Acadia on Friday and Dal on Saturday.
