(FREDERICTON, NB) Less than 18 hours after dropping a 90-55 decision to the first place UNB Varsity Reds, the Memorial Sea-Hawks handed the V-Reds their first loss of the season.

Memorial scored 62 second half points, on route to a 105-92 victory.

The win was just the second of the season for the Sea-Hawks.

Davion Parnsalu(Ajax, ON) scored a game-high 27 points to lead Memorial. He added 10 rebounds, recording the double-double.

Parnsalu was named the Subway Player of the Game.

"We've had a slow start to our season, but we wanted to come out and prove a point that we can compete in this league," said Parnsalu. "We're coming back and we're going to be playing better as the season goes on."

The Sea-Hawks were 10 of 15 from the field in a 31 point third quarter, and 9 of 11 from the free throw line.

"The main focus was just to come out with energy, come out with focus. Those little mistakes that we had to clean up. We did a better job today," said Parnsalu.

Javon Masters(Kitchener, ON) led the V-Reds, scoring 25 points and adding four assists.

But, late in the third quarter, Masters was assessed his second technical foul of the game and was ejected.

Freshman Ibrahima Doumbouya(Calgary, AB) came off the bench to score 16 points and grab 10 rebounds for UNB.

Tyrell Leotaud(Ajax, ON) scored 14 points.

"Our goal was to win the game, but we didn't achieve it. We're disappointed with that," said Doumbouya. "We weren't focused. Even in warm up, we weren't hitting our shots, and that didn't help us."

"We just gave up a four-point game at home, and that's not what we came here to do," said Varsity Reds head coach Brent Baker. "We didn't defend today. We were averaging about four charges taken a game. We took no charges today. They went right to the basket, uninhibited, any time they wanted to."

UNB is now 7-1, still good for first place in the Atlantic University Sport standings.

Memorial improves its record to 2-6.

Both teams are now off until after the Christmas Break.

The Sea-Hawks return to action January 6th, when they host Cape Breton.

That same evening, the V-Reds welcome Acadia to the Richard J. Currie Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.

UNB will participate in the Bishop's Gaiters Tournament, in late December.
