Varsity Reds Land Former OCAA All-Star
(FREDERICTON, NB) Hess Mayele is trading one capital city for another.
The 22-year old guard has signed a CIS Letter of Intent, and will join the UNB Varsity Reds men’s basketball team for the 2016-17 season.
Mayele, a native of Laval, Quebec, was named a first team all-star in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association’s Eastern Conference, last season.
Playing for Ottawa’s La Cite Collegial Coyotes, Mayele averaged 19.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Varsity Reds head coach Brent Baker is excited to have Mayele joining his team.
“Hess plays both ends of the court, and his quickness in the open court will be a definite compliment to our up tempo game,” says Baker. “His on-the-ball defense and court vision will be welcome additions to our line-up.”
