(SYDNEY, NS) The UNB Varsity Reds held off a frantic comeback attempt by the Cape Breton Capers, scoring an 84-83 win, Friday night, in Sydney.
The Capers(4-5) took a lead on Cedric Kasongo's layup with 4.6 seconds remaining, but UNB(4-4) converted on the ensuing inbounds pass with 1.6 seconds left on the clock to take the win.
Matt Daley had a game high 29 points, including the winning basket. Daley also had seven assists in the UNB effort.
Kenny Jean-Louis scored 20, had 12 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Capers.
Javon Masters followed Daley on the scoresheet, with 24 points and eight rebounds.
The Varsity Reds continue their weekend road-trip, heading to Antigonish for a Saturday evening date with the St. FX X-Men.
