NB hoop prospect joins the V-Reds for 2013-14

The UNB Varsity Reds Men’s Basketball Program is pleased to announce that Alex Carty of Fredericton High School will be joining the squad for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.
The 6’4”Fredericton native helped lead FHS to the 2012-2013 NB provincial high school title while during his high school career he has a total of two AA and two AAA provincial titles to his credit and was the team MVP for the 2012-13 season.
Carty suited up last summer with the U17 NB provincial team for the 2012 National Championship hosted by Bishops University, Sherbrooke P.Q.
Coach Baker is definitely happy that Carty will be joining the V- Reds and believes that Carty has a big upside in terms of his potential to grow as a player.
“Alex is an effective offensive player due to the fact that he stays within his skill set and is prepared to take quality shots when called upon to do so,” said Baker.
Along with pursuing an AUS banner for UNB Alex will be pursuing at Bachelor of Science degree.
