McFee sparks V-Reds to road win over Capers

Will McFee drained 23 points to lead the UNB Varsity Reds to a 90-88 road win over the Cape Breton University Capers in AUS men's basketball conference play Saturday. Dan Quirion helped out with 19 points while Michael Fosu and Jordan Irvine both scored 11.

Fosu grabbed eight rebounds.

Al Alilovic and Jimmy Dorsey netted 22 points for the Capers, who led 48-45 at halftime. Julian Smith added a dozen points.

The Reds rebounded from an 83-73 loss to the Capers on Friday.

The UNB women weren't as fortunate, losing 100-59 to CBU.

Claire Colborne swished 17 points and Jordanne Holstein 12 for the Reds, who were outscored 27-4 in the third quarter. Stephanie Toxopeus tossed in 19 points for the Capers while former UNBer Jessica Steed and Vicki Thistle each scored 10.

Cape Breton also beat UNB 86-78 on Friday.
