Top New Brunswick hoop prospect joins the Varsity Reds for next season.
The UNB Varsity Reds men’s basketball program is pleased to announce that Matthew Daley of Bathurst High School will be joining the squad for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.

Mathew led the Phantoms to a 39-2 record and the 2011 AAA New Brunswick Provincial High School Championship as they beat the Leo Hayes Lions 98-89 at the end of February.   He averaged 20.8 pts, 9. 3 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 6 steals per game over the course of the season.

UNB’s head coach Brent Baker is definitely happy that Daley will be joining the Varsity Reds.
“Matt is the quintessential student athlete that we are looking for at UNB. He is an honours student, a leader in the classroom and on the court.  With the graduation of Andy Wright it was important that we pursue a point guard with the same qualities.  His basketball I.Q. , his work ethic and his enthusiasm for the game make him a very valuable addition to our program,” said coach Baker.
