(SAINT JOHN, NB) The UNB REDS scored a dominant 35-7 win over the UNB Saint John Seawolves, in the Port City, on Saturday afternoon.

The REDS’ defense continued their solid play, sacking the UNBSJ quarterback four times.

Morgan Martin led the way for the UNB defense, getting to the Seawolves quarterback twice.

Ethan Rae and Cole Schneider each added a sack of their own, while defensive back Trenton Bannister came up with two interceptions.

UNB didn’t take too long to get on the board after a 60 yard run from Nick Parker set up running back John Freeze for a rushing touchdown to open the scoring just three minutes in.

UNB maintained a frenetic offensive pace in the second quarter, adding two more touchdowns, from Ryan Lee and Seb Brown, increasing their lead to 21-0 heading to halftime.

The REDS added another score in the third quarter, courtesy of Jonah Lockhart, before UNBSJ finally found the endzone, scoring a touchdown late in the quarter to narrow the gap to 28-7.

That was as much as the Seawolves offense could muster, as the REDS defense would shut down UNBSJ for the remainder of the game

UNB would add a late touchdown in the fourth quarter, from Dom Hall, that was set up by a 50-yard reception from Seb Brown to close out the game and help the REDS secure the victory.

UNB now moves to 3-and-1 on the season and will now prepare for their toughest test of the season, when they host the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 15 in a rematch of a thrilling Week 1 showdown that saw the Tigers come out on top 29-25.

Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
