Élodie Martin, of the women’s swimming team, is the UNB REDS/Papa John’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week.
Martin was a key contributor to the REDS fourth place finish in the women’s standings at the Kemp-Fry Invitational, the third meet of the Atlantic University Sport swimming season.
Martin scored victories in the women’s 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle events and was a member of UNB teams that placed third in both the women’s 4-by-100-metre and 4-by-200-metre freestyle relays.
“Élodie swam very well this weekend,” said Marta Belsh, head coach of the REDS’ swimming team. “She focused and strong, executed her race plan extremely well and was an inspiration to her teammates. She’s worked extremely hard this season and it’s good to see her training, and our work as a team, being rewarded. Élodie is a real talent and we’re excited to see where she can push her bar.”
Martin and her REDS teammates will host the next race on the AUS schedule, January 20th and 21st, 2024, at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre, in Saint John.
