REDS Drop Pair At X
(ANTIGONISH, NS) The UNB REDS dropped a pair of Atlantic University Sport road games to the STFX X-Women on the weekend.
Friday, the REDS fell 80-49. On Saturday, UNB lost 71-51.
In Friday’s loss, Katie Butts (Ottawa, ON) led the REDS with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Zoe Olscamp (Stratford, PE) grabbed nine rebounds and Lillian Fuller (Dartmouth, NS) and Leah Travers (Calgary, AB) each scored eight points off the bench.
On Saturday, Addie Mombourquette (Fredericton, NB) led UNB with a 19-point effort while Ann Bastien (Terrebonne, QC) chipped in 10 points and half a dozen rebounds.
Butts scored 10 as well, but the UNB bench managed just eight points.
“We had a tough weekend,” said REDS’ head coach Erin McAleenan. “We really struggled with pressure and seemed very hesitant offensively all weekend. I thought we underperformed overall and will look to regroup, refocus and get ready for our final league game heading into playoffs.”
“We know we are much more capable than what we showed this weekend,” said Coach McAleenan.
The losses drop UNB’s record to 9-10 headed into their regular season finale, Friday night when they host the Acadia Axewomen. Game time is 6:00pm.
Following the game, UNB will celebrate their graduating seniors.
The REDS have clinched a spot in the AUS Championship tournament, February 28th to March 2nd, in Halifax, and await a still-to-be-determined opponent.
