REDS To Play Sunday
(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS men's curling team will play in Sunday's semi-final at the 2025 Atlantic University Sport Championships, in Halifax.
UNB's Jamie Stewart rink won twice on Saturday, scoring a 7-2 win over STFX in the morning draw before beating the Dalhousie Tigers 6-3 in their final round robin game in the afternoon draw.
The wins improved UNB's record to 4-and-1, good for second place in the six-team field.
"We had a bit of a slow start against STFX, but finished strong," said REDS' head coach Gary Wilson. "That strong finish this morning carried over into the afternoon when we faced the local favourite."
The REDS will take on UPEI in Sunday's semi-final, scheduled for 9:00am, with the winner advancing to the gold medal game, against the Memorial Sea-Hawks, at 1:00pm.
"We're pleased and excited to get to the playoffs, that was one of our objectives," said Coach Wilson. "We look forward to the challenge UPEI presents."
During round robin play, UNB beat the Panthers 6-2.
