REDS Swim Past Mounties In Match Event
(SACKVILLE, NB) The UNB REDS and Mount Allison Mounties split team titles in a one-on-one match event, Saturday, in Sackville.
The REDS won the women's side of the event, while the Mounties took the men's side.
Alexie Sanford won the women's 100-metre freestyle and 200-metre individual medley for UNB, while Susana Somerton scored wins in the 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre backstroke.
Other winners for the REDS included Jennifer Moore, in the 400-metre freestyle, Sophie Casey, in 50-metre backstroke, Hannah Casey, in the 50-metre free, and Jessie Collett, in the 50-metre breaststroke.
UNB women also won the 200-metre medley relay and 200 metre freestyle relay.
Blake Kingston was UNB's only individual men's winner, taking first in the 50-metre breaststroke.
The REDS also won the men's 200-metre freestyle relay.
The match event served as a tune-up, for both teams, ahead of the Atlantic University Sport Swimming Championships, at Dalhousie, March 11-13.
