Smal And Horwood Post Sunday Wins
Final day at Dal's Kemp-Fry Invitational
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The 2018 Kemp-Fry Invitational swim meet, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers, came to an end Sunday night with the Dal women and McGill men taking home the team titles.
The evening session featured 18 finals, with Dalhousie winning eight and McGill claiming victory in seven.
UNB swimmers earned two victories.
Leah Smal (Fredericton, NB) won the women's 100-metre backstroke, in a U SPORTS Championship qualifying time of 1:01.37, while Noah Horwood won the men's 50-metre breaststroke.
Over the course of the three day meet, Smal qualified for four events at the U SPORTS Championships.
"I'm really pleased with the results this weekend," said Reds head coach Robin Ferdinand. "The entire team put in a lot of work in the pool and the gym leading up to this meet and those who are fully committed had great results."
"This meet was an opportunity to see our strengths and weaknesses," said Ferdinand. "We now know what adjustments need to be made to swim even faster in February."
Dalhousie will host the next Atlantic University Sport meet on January 19th and 20th, 2019.
