Samantha Lagacy would score two of UNB’s goals on Saturday, with Carly Goodine scoring the third Varsity Reds goal. Talisa Silzer would score the only goal for Acadia.
On Sunday Samantha Lagacy would continue her scoring streak with a goal in the fourth minute of play to get the Varsity Reds a 1-0 lead over UdeM.
Kayla Painter would score the in the 15th minute to put the V-Reds up 2-0. She would score again in the 32nd minute to push the lead to three, which they carried into halftime.
In the second half UdeM would strike back early as Josee LeBlanc put the ball past UNB keeper Jackie Blank in the 48th minute, cutting the lead to two.
Meggie Spicer would get the three goal lead back a minute later with a strike from the right side over the outstretched arms of the Moncton keeper.
Spicer would find the back of the goal again in the 58th to push UNB’s lead to four before her final and hat trick goal in the 77th minute.
Andy Cameron says his team was successful after improving their defense this week.
“We concentrated on teamwork and team zonal defending this week and that helped us with our win yesterday (Saturday) and today we got some attacking form in place.”
UNB’s next game is Saturday on the road against the UPEI Panthers.
