REDS Drop Pre-Season Finale
(FREDERICTON, NB) l'Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus scored a pair of first half goals in a 3-2 win over the host UNB REDS, in Atlantic University Sport exhibition action on Monday afternoon.
Jonathan Kisse opened the scoring for Moncton in 37th minute, connecting on a hard drive from inside the 18-yard box.
Pascal Sonier pushed Moncton's lead to 2-0 when he headed in a crossing attempt in the 42nd minute.
First-year REDS striker Myers Haynes (Antigonish, NS) cut the Moncton lead to a goal in the 45th minute.
Moncton's Mamadou Ba restored the visitor's two-goal lead in the 57th minute, but that was short-lived.
Reigning AUS MVP Keji Adeniyi (London, UK) brought the home team back within one in the 59th minute and nearly tied the game on a spectacular bicycle kick effort in the 68th minute. Moncton keeper Aaron Contreras made an equally spectacular save to preserve the visitor's lead.
The REDS open their AUS regular season schedule on Saturday, September 2nd, at Cape Breton. Game time is scheduled for 3:15pm.
Moncton begins their regular season campaign Saturday at STFX. That kickoff is also scheduled for 3:15pm.
