(FREDERICTON, NB) Another day, another big win for the UNB Varsity Reds, who defeated the Memorial Seahawks 6-1 in the second of two matches at BMO Centre.
The lop-sided victory follow's UNB's 6-2 win on Saturday.
The Varsity Reds opened the scoring early, with a goal in the 2nd minute by Kalen Park (Calgary, AB). In the 30th minute, Marcus Lees (Barrie, ON) beat three MUN defenders and placed a brilliant ball on the head of Robbie Park (Glasgow, Scotland).
UNB did not let up in the second half, as Kenneth Van Aarle (St. Andrews, NB) scored in the 48th minute. The Varsity Reds continued their big weekend with Ben Gorringe (Calgary, AB) and Oliver Jones (London, UK) each scoring for UNB.
Late in the second half, MUN responded with a brilliantly placed free kick to the back of UNB's net, by Tyler Forsey (St. Philips, NL).
UNB's 6th goal was a creative effort, started by Jones and finished by Van Aarle, his second of the game, in the 87th minute.
The Subway Player of the Game for the Varsity Reds was Steven Miller (London, ON). Austin Blades (Lower Sackville, NS) earned the honour for the Seahawks.
