Men's Soccer Re-Cap
The recently ranked sixth place team, UNB Men's soccer took a 1-1 tie and 3-0 victory this weekend.
Tying the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) Panthers 1-1, the lonely UNB goal scored by Yousuf Mohammed, they then took on the Saint Xavier University X-men where they won 3-0.
Rookie mid-fielder Marcus Lees scored his first goal with the V-Reds in minute 48, helping push the lead 2-0.
Lees was not the only rookie to score against the X-Men, but Robert Park also scored his first career goal with the Reds in minute 54.
Although Karosan and Park assisted in the victory, Lees was chosen as Player of the Game and he celebrated accordingly.
"I was really happy when that happened, and so I was kind of tired with all the running around I had done," he joked.
"But happy that it went and the play was really nice."
The Barry, Ontario native began his soccer 'career' at five after watching his brother Curtis play. Since then he has played for Toronto FC Academy and a brief time in Rio de Janeiro playing with Fluminense Football Club.
Lees is in his first year of eligibility with the Canadian University Sport (CIS) Conference and is looking forward to his time with UNB.
