UNB Men’s Soccer Program announces latest recruits – Max Vitrotti and Matt Mountney.
FREDERICTON, N.B. – The University of New Brunswick Men’s Soccer Program is pleased to announce the addition of Max Vitrotti and Matt Mountney to their recruiting class for the 2013 soccer season.
MaxVitrotti, a 17 year old from London, UK, is a fullback who attended Millfield School where he helped win two County titles and one national title for independent schools (ISFA).
“I chose to attend UNB because it seemed to me to be an incredible opportunity,” said Vitrotti. “I am looking forward to playing for the Varsity Reds to improve, to have fun, and to win.”
Head Coach Miles Pinsent first saw Max play while on a recent recruiting trip to England. “I knew instantly that he was the type of player that would have a huge impact on the Varsity Reds program. He is a strong student and is a creative and composed player.”
Vitrotti, grew up playing for clubs in Italy (AC Canelli) and in England (Barnes Eagles and North London Elite. He will be entering the Bachelor of Arts program at UNB.
Joining Vitrotti in the backfield will be Matt Mountney at the centre back position. He is also a 17 year old and hails from Egerton, England.
Mountney grew up playing for Egerton Football Club and more recently from Abbey Hey Football Club in Manchester, chose to come to UNB because, “it’s a well-established university and is known to be one of the best in Canada with an excellent reputation for academic and sporting success.”
“I am looking forward to playing for the Varsity Reds because I want to be part of a successful team with a great reputation in Canada. I am also really looking forward to meeting and getting to know all the players,” continued Mountney.
“Matt is a natural and athletic defender,” commented Pinsent. “He has great instincts and reads the game well – Matt will help solidify our defense for years to come.”
Matt will be entering the Bachelor of Kinesiology program at UNB.
UNB is the host University of the 2013 CIS Men’s Soccer Championship which will be held at the BMO Centre November 7-10th.
