(MONCTON, NB) Philippe Maillet(Terrebonne, QC) scored twice and added two assists to lead the UNB Varsity Reds in a 9-2 win over the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus.
It was the second consecutive Friday that UNB scored nine goals against Moncton.
Five of the Varsity Reds' goals came in just a nine shot span in the second period, including two on the power-play.
Stephen Anderson(Morell, PE) and Francis Beauvillier(St. Hyacinthe, QC) had a goal and an assist each, while Alex Dubeau(Mascouche, QC) made 22 saves to earn the win in net.
Jordan Murray(Riverview, NB), Cam Braes(Shawnigan Lake, BC) and Chris Caissy(Campbellton, NB) contributed a goal and an assist each.
Samuel Leblanc(Moncton, NB), with his first AUS goal, and Pierre Durepos(Shediac, NB) scored for Moncton.
With the win, the Varsity Reds improve to 3-0-1, good for 7 points and first place in the Atlantic University Sport standings.
Moncton is now 0-and-3.
Les Aigles Bleus visit UPEI, on Saturday.
The Varsity Reds travel to Halifax, next Friday, to face the Dalhousie Tigers.
