(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS women’s swimming team is adding Madison Hubbard to their recruiting class of 2023.

The 17-year-old, from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2023-2024 Atlantic University Sport season.

“Her eagerness towards growing both in swimming and academics presents a very coachable student-athlete,” said REDS’ head coach Marta Belsh. “We’re looking forward to her developments over her tenure with the REDS.”

Hubbard is completing her Grade 12 year at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School.

A veteran member of the Yarmouth Whitecaps, Hubbard swims freestyle and backstroke events.

“I was drawn to the REDS by the astoundingly supportinve and uplifting atmosphere of the team,” said Hubbard. “The team members and coaches encourage each other to be the most successful version of themselves. I was drawn to UNB because of the school’s dedication and ability to produce successful engineers as well.”

Hubbard’s short-term goals include improving her skills and endurance and grow as a swimmer. Longer-term, she wants to add depth to the team and contribute to team success by being a supportive and dedicated teammate.

“We’re looking forward to Madison’s energy and contributions to what we already have with our current team,” said Coach Belsh.

Hubbard will study Engineering while attending UNB.
