Lafleur leads UNB in second straight win
(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB Varsity Reds completed a weekend sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks with a 60-56 victory, on Sunday afternoon, in St. John's.
UNB jumped out to an early lead on the Sea-Hawks and finished the quarter up 13-7.
The Varsity Reds would continue to build on their lead into the second quarter, and would go into the half with a 27-14 advantage.
The Sea-Hawks would use a third quarter surge to cut the Varsity Reds lead to eight points going into the final quarter of play.
That final quarter of play was very competitive, and the Sea-Hawks were able to get within two, but UNB was able to get key baskets from multiple players down the stretch to keep them ahead.
Nicole LaFleur(Fredericton, NB) finished with a game high 19 points. She added 4 rebounds. Katelyn Mangold(Peterborough, ON) also registered a strong performance for UNB, finishing with 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
