(QUEBEC CITY, QC) The UNB REDS dropped a 3-0 decision to the Laval Rouge et Or on Saturday afternoon, in Quebec City.

Laval won with scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-20 to sweep the RSEQ season opening weekend series.

"We started fast again today," said REDS head coach Dan McMorran. "But we weren't able to play at the same level we did last night (Friday), and that's not going to translate into a win against Laval at home."

Emil Pedersen led the REDS with 11 kills while Scott Mann registered 11 digs. Nathan Marshall had 21 assists.

"Scott Mann had two solid performances this weekend against a tough serving team, and led both teams in digs today," said McMorran.

Nicolas Fortin led the Rouge et Or with a game-high 26 kills.

"I'm encouraged with our progression since the start of our season," said Coach McMorran. "We have a young group that is committed to growing, and all are looking forward to getting ready for Montreal in our home opener."

UNB hosts the Universite de Montreal Carabins on Friday, November 11th. First serve is scheduled for 8:00pm at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
