Nadeau Joining REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s swimming team is adding mid and long distance freestyler Zachary Nadeau to their recruiting class of 2024.
The Moncton native has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport swimming season.
“Zach came to the sport a little later than some, but his growth within the last two seasons has shown great promise,” said REDS’ head coach Marta Belsh. “He sets big goals and is learning to push himself to reach them.”
The 17-year-old is completing his Grade 12 year at Moncton’s Harrison Trimble High School, where he was the Trojans’ Grade 11 MVP in 2023.
He’s also a veteran member of the Codiac Vikings Aquatics, where he was recognized as the top senior male in 2022.
“I was impressed with the camaraderie of the team and the experience of the coaching staff,” said Nadeau. “I love swimming and I’m determined to always keep improving my techniques. I’m a dedicated teammate in and out of the pool.”
Nadeau has specialized in 200-metre, 400-metre, and 800-metre freestyle events.
“As a RED, a short-term goal will be to learn from the coaches so I can improve my technique,” he said. “A long-term goal would be to represent UNB at the U SPORTS Championships.”
Nadeau will study Business while attending UNB.
