Nkoghe Scores Twice In Reds Win

(SACKVILLE, NB) The UNB Reds scored a 7-2 win over the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday night.

 

UNB opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a free kick set play from 35 yards out. Joe Hamilton (Morecambe, UK) picked up the goal. The Reds would strike again just two minutes later when Tristan Nkoghe (Sherbrooke, QC) scored of two.

 

Nkoghe's second came in the 27th minute as the Reds extended their lead to 3-0. 

 

In the 33rd minute, Keji Adeniyi (London, UK) ran the score to 4-0 and then Ben Gorringe (Mount Uniacke, NS) scored in the 36th minute to make it 5-0 for the visitors.

 

The Mounties would get on the scoreboard in the 42nd minute with Brogan Skinner's (Blockhouse, NS) shot attempt was headed into the UNB goal by one of their defenders.

 

Mario Maldonado (Tegucigalpa, Hond.) scored on a penalty kick on the last play of the first half to make it 6-1 for the nationally ranked Reds.

 

Grant Takacs (Woodstock, ON) scored the seventh goal for UNB less than 10 minutes into the second half.

 

The Mounties rounded out the scoring with their second of the night when Tevin Lewis (Nassau, Bah.) popped one over keeper Evan Barker's (Winnipeg, MB) head for his first career AUS goal.

 

The Mounties will be in Halifax on Sunday to face the Dal Tigers.

 

The Reds return home to host Moncton. Game time is 1:00pm.
