(SUDBURY, ON) The UNB REDS are 2-and-1 after three draws at the U SPORTS Men's Curling Championship, in Sudbury, Ontario.

UNB's Jamie Stewart rink, the Atlantic University Sport bronze medallists, rebounded from an opening day loss to AUS rivals Dalhousie with two wins on Thursday.

In Thursday's first game, the REDS scored two in the ninth end to beat the Calgary Dinos 7-4.

In the last draw, Stewart's foursome scored twice in the sixth end, stole two more in the seventh and a single in the eighth end, then held on to beat the Laurier Golden Hawks 9-8.

"We just got by a guard, by a hair, on Jamie's first rock," said REDS head coach Lindsey MacKnight. "Laurier's last rock wrecked out front of the house and we didn't have to throw our last rock."

UNB begins Friday's action as one of four teams with 2-and-1 records.

"We feel good about our position in the standings right now," said MacKnight. "The guys are resting between games and staying relaxed. It's a great feeling to be where we are at and we are truly enjoying this experience at U SPORTS."

The REDS face the host Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday afternoon and Queen's on Friday evening.

"We're grateful for the support of the handful of parents that made the trip to Sudbury to watch their son's play," added MacKnight.
