(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE) Hannah Cormier was the top UNB Reds finisher in the first Atlantic University Sport women’s cross country race of the 2018 season.

Cormier finished 19^th in the five kilometre event which was won by Dalhousie’s Michelle Reddy, in a time of 19:20. Cormier ran the event in 20:32.

“Hannah was very controlled throughout the race, which bodes well for her progression this season,” said Reds head coach Chris Belof.

Other Reds finishers were Emma Towers 32^nd, Natasha Vatcher 38^th, Jill Lamb 42^nd, Amelia Welch 43^rd, Jana Giles 47^th, Emmanuelle Martin 52^nd, Abigail Evans 60^th, and Grace Weaver 67^th.

“None of our top five raced in a Reds singlet last year,” said Belof. “A realistic goal for the year is being one of the top four teams in the conference and we did that today. There is work that needs to be done, in advance of the AUS Championships, to stay in the top four.”

The next event on the AUS schedule is this weekend’s St FX Invitational, in Antigonish, NS.
