Reds Fall In Close Match At SMU

(HALIFAX, NS) The Saint Mary's Huskies scored a 3-1 win over the UNB Reds, Friday, in Halifax.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-and-6 in Atlantic University Sport play, while the Reds are now 8-and-7.

UNB took a tightly contested first set by a score of 25-20.

Saint Mary's then tied the match with a 25-21 victory in the second set.

The Huskies won the third 25-20, taking a 2-1 lead.

In a back-and-forth fourth set, the home side prevailed 26-24, winning the match 3-1.

Anna Watt (Calgary, AB) led the way for the Huskies with a double-double, tallying 10 kills and 25 digs. Sophomore Olivia Bell (Lahave, NS) recorded 16 kills and added seven digs. Emilla Conlon (Dartmouth, NS) had a team-high 49 assists.

Victoria Eadle (Gallagher Ridge, NB) led the Reds with nine kills and 13 digs, while Robyn Anderson (Jaffray, BC) had eight kills in the loss. Paige Lehto (North Vancouver, BC) had a team-high 30 assists, while Kelsie Dukart (Parkland County, AB) added 21 digs.

The Huskies and Reds finish their weekend series on Saturday. First serve is at 2:00pm.
