Reds Open Season With Win

(MONCTON, NB) The UNB Reds opened the 2018-19 Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball season with a 3-0 win over the host Aigles Bleues, in Moncton, on Friday.

The Reds won 25-23, 25-18 and 25-10.

Fifth-year outside hitter Siobhan Fitzpatrick (Kelowna, BC) had a match-high 14 kills for UNB, while Kelsey Bond (Bridgewater, NS) recorded a match-high 15 digs.

"We took some time to get settled into the match," said Reds head coach Christine Biggs. "We started managing our first contact and put ourselves in position to play a calm and tactical game."

"It was great to see our game grew throughout the night, and we're excited to get back to work to prepare for next weekend's re-match," said Biggs.

The Reds host that re-match, Friday at 6:00pm.

Before visiting UNB next weekend, les Aigles Bleues travel to Acadia on Saturday.
