(MONCTON, NB) Jesse Bellamy (St. Catharines, ON) scored in the 75th minute to give the UNB REDS a 2-1 win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues, Sunday at Moncton's Medavie Croix Bleue Stadium.

Bellamy's goal gave UNB their second straight win, improving the REDS record to 3-5-2, good for 11 points. With the loss, Moncton is now 0-9-0.

After a scoreless first half, both teams registered in the second.

Heidi Lauwerijssen (Irishtown, PE) scored in the 50th minute to give UNB the lead. Moncton's keeper came out to play the ball, over ran it and Lauwerijssen was on the spot to capitalize. She sprinted past the keeper and fired the ball into a wide open Aigles Bleues net.

Moncton's Leila Karam (Bromont, QC) evened the score ten minutes later, with a hard strike that just eluded a diving Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK) in the REDS net.

15 minutes on, the Aigles Bleues turned the ball over deep inside their own zone. After forcing the turnover, Madison Goertz (Saskatoon, SK) handed the ball off to Bellamy, who skillfully slid it past the Moncton keeper.

The REDS carried that 2-1 lead to the final whistle.

The teams will play a re-match on Saturday, at the Canada Games Stadium, on the campus of UNB Saint John. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
