(HALIFAX, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers scored twice in a four-minute span of the second half to beat the visiting UNB Reds 2-1, Friday evening.

The Reds had the first scoring chance of the match early on, with Sylvie Fecteau (Moncton, NB) creating space just inside the box and sending a hard strike at Karina Koepke (Kiel, GER), but the Tigers keeper was able to knock it down without a rebound.

The Tigers amped up the attacking pressure after that chance, with time of possession in the attacking third leading to chances from corners.

The best chance of the half came from a great cross off the boot of Riley Donovan (Toronto, ON) to the top of the box for Maya Venkataraman (Summerland, BC), but the strike was deflected and bounced wide of the post.

It didn't take long for the Tigers to break the 0-0 deadlock in the second half, with Rachelle Lalonde (Halifax, NS) getting a great touch on a volley from the top of the box after a deflected corner.

Following the first goal, Zoe Brown (Halifax, NS) did a great job to hold possession in the box and earn a penalty for her team. Brown hammered the penalty just inside the left post to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

The Reds were able to generate some pressure off corners, but it took until the 88th minute for them to finally break through. When a deep goal kick took a bounce through the Tigers back line, Danika Lefebvre (Hanwell, NB) was able to get there first for an easy tip-in to bring her team within one.

Time ran out on the Reds comeback chances, as the final whistle blew and the Tigers took the 2-1 victory.

Zoe Brown was named Subway Player of the Game title for her goal scoring effort.

The Tigers will hit the road on Sunday to face UPEI, while the Reds take on Saint Mary's on Saturday.
